Construction Work on 1-95 Northbound Starts Friday

Beginning Friday, Nov. 15, (Rain Date: Saturday, Nov. 16) at 7 p.m., construction crews will implement a traffic lane split on I-95 northbound at the Needham-Dedham town line, according to the Massachusetts Department of Transportation.
The process will continue on overnight through noon on Saturday, Nov. 16.  The traffic split is necessary to demolish and reconstruct the bridge that carries I-95 over the Charles River as part of the Add-A-Lane Construction project.
The new pattern will be in effect until November 2014.
The northbound travel lanes will be split, with the two left lanes shifting west, toward the southbound barrel of I-95, and the right lane and breakdown lane will move to the east.
Breakdown lane travel will remain restricted; use of the breakdown lane is only permitted from Monday to Friday, from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m., and 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Drivers in this area should be advised that Exit 17 for Route 135/Needham/Natick, and Exit 18 for Great Plain Avenue and West Roxbury will only be accessible from the right travel lane and the breakdown lane.
Drivers should use extreme caution and pay particular attention to posted warning and regulatory signs when travelling within the above noted area.
