Norwood Receives Federal Block Grant to Rehabilitate Washington Heights

Norwood is one of 38 communities receiving funding for housing and infrastructure upgrades, child care and public service programs.

Governor Deval Patrick announced that 38 cities and towns will receive $31 million in federal Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) to support housing rehabilitation, public service projects and local infrastructure.

The town of Norwood will receive $753,977 for Housing Rehabilitation (10 units) and electrical upgrades to Housing Authority property, Washington Heights.

“When we invest in infrastructure projects in our communities, we put people to work and leave a better Commonwealth for the next generation,” Governor Patrick said. “We thank the Obama Administration and our Congressional delegation for their continued commitment to investing in our future.”

The CDBG program is the Commonwealth’s largest resource for local revitalization projects.

“Community Development Block Grants provide vital support for cities and towns across the Commonwealth,” Senator Elizabeth Warren said. “These grants will help working families and small businesses, and encourage economic development."
