"I think most people know that I have had a special relationship with the families and elected officials in the Town of Norwood. In 2001, I announced my candidacy for Congress from the gazebo on Norwood Town Common. My first appointee to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point was a young man named Dan Henry. Dan was the catcher for the Norwood High School baseball team when I first met him. He later courageously served our country in the war in Iraq.

I've been a frequent guest at Norwood Town Meeting and I am fortunate to have had the wise counsel of John Carroll, Helen Abdallah Donahue, Representative John Rogers, Betty Mastandrea, Teddy Mulvehill and others regarding matters affecting Norwood families, seniors and veterans. It has been a distinct honor to represent Norwood in the U.S. Congress. I consider myself very lucky to have that privilege. All in all, I think the people of Norwood have helped me become a better Congressman. I can promise that if I am re-elected I will continue to try to live up to their highest expectations."
