Norwood High's 'We the People' Captures Second Place

Norwood High's "We the People" team came in second place at the Kennedy School of Government recently. The team took part in a day of debate and discussion on constitutional issues of the day, using a mocked congressional hearing format.

This was the first semester culminating for members of the Norwood High School Honors Civics program. Molly Uppenkamp was their teacher.

The students who participated were Tessa Maguire, Jimmy Conley, Jack Higgins, Lauren McDonough, Austin Mathiesen, Karl Baer, Frank Schuth, Tom Meyer, Isuf Gega, Eddie Daaboul, Osato Izeko, Nick Kimmett, Taylor Junkins, Stephen Gross, Pat Shilo, Emma Murphy, Ian Quintana and Jamie Leanos. Maguire, Conley and Jack Higgins took home the trophy for being the highest scoring panel for Norwood.

Working in groups of three to prepare to answer questions from six different units of study. These prepared arguments were then presented to a panel of judges, receiving scores up to 2,160 points.
