Norwood's Matt Brown Crosses Marathon Finish Line

With the help of friend Lucas Carr, Brown says this is just the beginning, as the pair hopes to next tackle the Boston Marathon.

, the Norwood High School student who was tragically injured in a hockey accident two years ago, crossed the finish line of the Hyannis marathon on Sunday with the help of friend Lucas Carr, WHDH-TV reported this morning.

The 26.2 mile race is just the beginning, the article stated, as Brown and Carr now look forward to the Boston Marathon. Brown said he wants to raise money for the Boston Bruins Foundation.

"It's touching, it's really emotional," Brown told WHDH.

“This is an adrenaline rush just pushing him the first mile and it takes you all the way through 26.2, it’s just something that’s inspiring the whole way,” Lucas told WHDH.

On January 23, 2010, Brown was seriously injured in a varsity hockey game, suffering fractures of the C4 and C5 vertebrae in his neck and significant bruising of his spinal cord which left him paralyzed from the chest down. Even so, the now high school senior is working every day toward recovery, with the constant motto, "Never quit."
