Simply known to most as Coakley, the school is the only middle school for the town of Norwood, funneling in students from the five elementary schools. The building used to serve as one of the town's two junior high schools.
Coakley serves as the practice and playing ground for many of the town's youth sports programs and during the construction of the new high school, has been the home field of the Mustangs football team.
