Norwood Police Log June 12-14: Drug Arrest and OUI

June 13 2:23 p.m. Caller reported someone had attempted to break into his house during the night. 8:35 p.m. Norwood Police assisted in apprehending a suspect for the State Police after a crash on I-95. June 14 9:25 a.m. Paul Shea, 24, of 37 Dean St. was arrested for possession of a class E substance and possession with intent to distribute of a class A substance. 11:36 p.m. Paige Iby, 22, of 1116 Methuen St. in Dracut was arrested for operation of a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.

Norwood Police Warns Residents to Keep Car Doors Locked

Norwood Police wrote on their Facebook page that they received reports of a suspicious man trying to open cars in driveways.

  Norwood Police is asking all residents to keep their cars locked when not in use.  This warning comes after receiving reports of a man trying to open cars in driveways. "We’ve had a few reports of a suspicious man trying to open car doors in driveways in the area of Neponset Street, Jefferson Drive, Earle Street, and Carpenter Street," police said on their Facebook page. Police are also asking everyone to not leave valuables in view.  That would include chargers, cords or anything that would indicate there's a device in the car. "If you see someone in your neighbor’s driveway or your driveway, watch them for a minute, gather a description, and call us if you think they’re up to no good," police said."

Norwood Police Log June 9: Framingham Resident Arrested for OUI

June 9 12:44 a.m. Caller reported a fight in progress on Village Road. 1:49 p.m. Arielle Oven, 28, of 83 Lanewood Ave. in Framingham was arrested for operation of a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and negligent operation of a motor vehicle. Her vehicle was found after a crash on Boston Providence Highway. 12:17 p.m. Caller reported jewelry missing from her residence on Saunders Road. 4:52 p.m. Caller reported the theft of his tailgate from his vehicle. 10:05 p.m. Caller reported a hit and run on Chapel Street.

June 7 1:42 p.m. Caller reported a hit and run in the Home Depot parking lot. 8:41 p.m. Caller reported a break in on Thompson Road. Signs of forced entry were found. 11:03 p.m. Caller reported a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Nahatan Street and Pleasant Street. A traffic signal was found down at the scene. June 8 12:52 p.m. Caller reported her vehicle was hit while she was inside and the driver of the offending vehicle took off. 5:27 p.m. Caller reported a break in at his residence on the previous day on Lansdowne Way. 8:53 p.m. Caller reported a fight in the street on Cross Street. 8:54 p.m. Caller reported her friend took her iPhone.

High-Speed Chase Results in Drug Bust of Norwood Man

Stoughton Police arrested a Norwood man and a Stoughton woman following a high-speed car chase. The two face several drug-related charges.

  A high-speed car chase in Stoughton this past weekend resulted in a drug bust and the arrests of a Norwood man and a Stoughton woman, according to a post on the Stoughton Police Department's Facebook page. Shortly after 11:30 a.m. on June 8, "Officer Healey, while on his way to work, noticed what appeared to be a domestic event in the vehicle in front of him. He called in the information and followed the vehicle while waiting for a marked unit," according to the SPD Facebook post. "Once the operator realized he was being followed by an officer, he took off at a high rate of speed in order to evade Officer Healey. Marked units joined the pursuit which reached speeds of 90 MPH and put the officers and the public at risk," the post …

Norwood Fire Department Announces Three New Members

The Norwood Fire Department would like introduce it's three newest members: Nick Gulla, Seamus Murphy and Patrick McDonough. The new members have completed their 3 week orientation period and have been assigned to their respective crews. FF Gulla grew up in Norwood and is a 1999 graduate of Norwood High School. He received an Asoociate Degree from MassBay Community College in engineering. He is an EMT and owns Gulla Landscape.  FF Gulla's sister Angela is a member of the Norwood Police Department. FF Murphy grew up in Norwood and is a Norwood High School graduate Class of 2000. He attended Roger Williams College and earned a Bachelor of Management Degree.
