Norwood Police Log: Graffiti on Building, Armed Robbery

The following information was provided by the Norwood Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate conviction.

Thursday, Jan. 10 11:29 a.m. - Subject on phone reported after reading an article believes her van was hit a couple of weeks ago, while pulling into Hannafords lot. Window broke and she had no idea why. Police filed a report. 12:26 p.m. - Caller at Chateau Restaurant reported vehicle hit the building. NFD notified. Papers exchanged. 2:08 p.m. - Walk-in reported assaults at the Golden Living Center on Washington Street. Police filed a report, Det. Ryan investigating. 3:48 p.m. - Caller on Lenox Street reported graffiti on back of building. Police filed a report. Friday, Jan. 11 12:15 p.m. - Caller at Clay Nissan reported check written for a vehicle purchase and returned by the bank. No such account. Police issued a summons. 7:17 p.m. - …

UPDATE: Armed Robbery Reported in Norwood Center

Police are reportedly looking for a black male who robbed the Norwood News Convenient Store with a knife Thursday evening.

UPDATE: 9:51 a.m., Friday, Dec. 14 The following is a statement issued from the Norwood Police Department: Norwood Police responded to an armed robbery last evening around 7:15 at the Norwood News Convenient Store located at 683 Washington St. Officer Paul Zorzi spoke with an employee and learned that the suspect described as a black male, mid-thirties, wearing a black sweatshirt and black pants entered the store placed some merchandise on the counter as though to purchase. Once the employee opened the cash draw the suspect lunged at him with a knife forcing the employee to jump back to escape injury. The suspect then removed cash then fled out the store. He was last seen running behind the building out to Day Street. The suspect got away …

Norwood Mobil Robbed at Gunpoint Early Monday

A suspect with a silver semi-automatic handgun reportedly demanded money from an employee at the Mobil Mart on Washington St. before fleeing the scene.

The following is taken from a report by the Norwood Police Department: Between 3 and 4 a.m. Monday the Norwood Police Communication Center received a telephone call from an alarm company reporting a panic alarm at 499 Washington Street - which is the Mobil Mart. Officer James Mahoney was first on scene and spoke with an employee who stated the store had been robbed at gunpoint. It is reported that the suspect came into the store and demanded cash from the cash register. Once the suspect received the cash from the employee he fled on foot in an unknown direction. The suspect was described as a black male, 150-180 pounds, between 5’8 and 6 feet tall. Suspect was seen wearing a brown hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, a baseball cap, black …
