Norwood's Gorman, Boston College Baseball Teammates to Face Boston Red Sox

The Boston College baseball team will play the second game of a doubleheader exhibition against the Boston Red Sox Thursday in Florida.

  Norwood's John Gorman and his Boston College baseball teammates will be facing the Boston Red Sox Thursday in the second game of a doubleheader in Fort Myers. Boston will play Northeastern at 1:30 p.m., followed 40 minutes after that game ends, BC will play the Red Sox. A sophomore pitcher-infielder, Gorman was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 50th round of the Major League Draft two years out of Catholic Memorial High School. Boston Red Sox manager John Farrell said on mlb.com that he would be staying away from his starting pitchers for the two exhibition games against the college teams, instead going to his relievers. "On the two college games, that will serve as somewhat of an intrasquad type game for us," said Farrell on the team…

Norwood's Gorman Pitches Against Boston Red Sox

A freshman at Boston College, Norwood's John Gorman pitched two innings of relief against the Boston Red Sox Saturday night in Florida.

Norwood's John Gorman had the opportunity of a lifetime Saturday night at JetBlue Park at Fenway South at Fort Myers, FL. The Boston College freshman righthander pitched the fourth and fifth innings against the Boston Red Sox in the team's annual exhibition game against the major league club. Gorman, who was drafted in the 50th round by the Boston Red Sox last year after a standout career at Catholic Memorial, gave up four hits, including a double to Mike Avilies, two runs and struck out a batter in two innings. BC lost to the Boston Red Sox, 6-3, in a seven inning game in front of 8,038 fans.
