Patch Snow Center: Cancellations, Feb. 2

Another snow day? You bet.

Updated at 10:52 p.m. Tuesday night. Norwood Public Schools have officially canceled school tomorrow after consulting with "local highway and weather officials" according to their website. All afternoon and evening activities at the school have been canceled as well. The Morrill Memorial Library will be closed all day. All programs at the Civic center are canceled. Be sure to check in with Norwood Patch for further cancellations and updates throughout the day.

Due to the forecasted weather conditions there will be a half-day of school today at all Norwood Public Schools. There will be no morning or afternoon preschool and no other afternoon or evening activities. St. Catherine of Siena School also has a half-day today, dismissal will be at 11:40 a.m. The Open House scheduled for this evening has been rescheduled to Feb. 8. The Board of Selectmen meeting scheduled for Tuesday night has been canceled. All programs and classes at the Recreation Department have been canceled for tonight. As of 6:00 a.m. on Thursday: Norwood Public Schools are closed today. All classes and programs at the Civic Center are cancelled for today. Check back in to Norwood Patch or the Recreation Department Facebook page for more information. Waters Church will not be holding evening services tonight. Programming for tonight at the Morrill Library has been postponed, including the book-signing with Hank Phillippi Ryan. The library itself will be closing at 7:00 p.m. All Norwood high school sporting events for tonight have been cancelled or postponed:

Even if school wasn't out of session for winter break, kids will be staying home today, rejoicing for the snow day. My guess is that many parents received the day off as well. Last night's storm dumped just under a foot of snow on the ground, making for nasty travel conditions. Between two and four more inches could accumulate today. So now that you are stuck indoors all day, what are you going to do? Here are a few ideas: 1.) Sleep in. Go back to bed, cuddle with your blanket and pillows and catch up on some Zs. It's been a hectic holiday weekend for a lot of people, so this is the perfect opportunity to recharge those batteries. 2.) Build a fort. With up to 20 inches expected between tonight and tomorrow, some things are already being cancelled or postponed.

Due to the weather there are already several closings and cancellations listed for tomorrow in Norwood. UPDATE: The Morrill Memorial Library will be closed all day today. All Norwood public school activities have been cancelled for tomorrow. This includes both the boys' varsity and junior varsity ice hockey tournaments at Braintree and Westwood. The Norwood Senior Center will be closed all day and the Recreation Department will open at noon only if travel conditions permit. Residents can call 781-726-0466 tomorrow for that information. The National Weather Service forecast for the rest of tonight is snow with a low temperature around 27 degrees and northeast winds between 17 and 23 mph.
