Floor Hockey Playoffs at the Norwood Recreation Department

Norwood Recreation floor hockey playoffs are underway.

The Norwood Recreation Department Floor Hockey Playoffs are underway. The push towards the cup has started for eight teams in grades 2 and 3 who are seeking to capture the Mite Division Championship. On Jan. 23, in the championship level, the 7-0 Eagles defeated the 4-3 Shamrocks with a 4-0 score. The 5-2 Maniac Monkeys battled to defeat the 6-1 Hawks with a 4-3 score. In the Bronze level, the 3-4 Crazy Crabs went pass the 0-7 Huskies with a 7-0 score. The 1-6 Blackhawks defeated the 1-6 Bricklayers with a 4-0 score. On Jan. 30 at 4 p.m., the Crazy Crabs and the Blackhawks will duel for the Bronze Championship. On Feb. 6 at 5:15 p.m., the Eagles will take on the Maniac Monkeys for the Championship. Norwood Pool Schedule and Rules

The town pools open on June 23, don't forget to get your pool tags from the Recreation Department.

Pool Schedule: The Norwood pools open on June 23 for this season. Monday-Friday: 1-7 p.m. Weekends: 12-7 p.m. Pool schedule is subject to change, staff will post and announce changes as soon as possible. Additional aquatic programs may be happening at the pools during certain general swim hours, but space will still be reserved for general swim. Hawes Pool will close during swim meets, schedule will be posted on bulletin board at Hawes.    Pool Rules: 1. Visitors must wear proper swim attire and have a current pool pass attached on your person at all times. One day passes can be purchased at the Civic during the week. 2. Food, drinks, and chairs are not permitted in the pool area. 3. All patrons must take a shower prior to swimming in the …

Bullyproofing - Be preventative and proactive so children can avoid being bullied and learn how to stop it. For ages 7-10, Thursday, March 15. Cost is $38 per person. BLAST - Learn basics of infant and child care, how to react to medical emergencies and run your own babysitting service. Bring a snack and a drink. For ages 11-13, Thursday, March 15, 3-6:00 p.m. Cost is $48 per person. New Fall Programs Available at the Civic Center

Check out the fall offerings and be sure to sign up.

Registration for the fall is underway at the Civic Center. Classes begin the week of September 12. Registration is available either online, www.norwoodma.gov or in person at the Norwood Recreation Department. Many new classes are being offered to choose from including Wicked Gross Science, Night in the Kitchen, Bullyproofing, Fall Kids Running Club, Tot Sports Sampler, and Kids Cook, as well as many traditional favorites to select from as well, including Dance, Gymnastics, Music, and more. Also be sure to check out some of the single day programs: Preschool Prep, for ages 2.5-4 years, will be on September 23, from 9:30-11:30 a.m.: Get your child ready for the ultimate Preschool experience. The holiday season begins with a bang in Norwood, and other important facts for the day.

1. The Norwood Holiday Extravaganza will be held this afternoon on the town common and in the Civic Center. Activities start at 1:30 p.m. and include hayrides,  face-painting, Christmas story readings and musical performances. Patch will be there to kick off the holiday season as well! 2. The winter sports season starts tomorrow. First games will be this coming weekend. Watch Patch for team previews and game schedules. 3. All board and committee meetings are back to normal scheduling this week after the holiday break for many.
