Mustangs Drop Game Against Rival Dedham

Marauders come out on top in the second clash with Norwood this season.

It didn’t take long for Sean O’Neill to put the Mustangs on the board last night at Dedham, but that 2-0 lead would be Norwood’s biggest, and last, of the night, as the Mustangs were outpaced by their archrivals, 60-38. “There’s no way to sugarcoat it. They beat us in every facet of the game,” Norwood coach Rich Cormier said. “I’m disappointed for the kids. I know how hard they worked, and we are a better team than that.” The Mustangs kept it close throughout the first, but after that 14-11 quarter it was Dedham’s show.  The Marauders played strong and tough at both ends of the court, and had no problem finding the net at any point during the game.  “I was really pleased with the effort tonight, especially defensively,” said coach Ed …

In one of the most exciting league games of the season, the Norwood boys basketball team held off the Dedham Marauders for the 53-50 victory last night in Norwood. Norwood’s Troy Sousa-Semper led an intense second half comeback by scoring 11 points in the third quarter, while Owen Gearty and Sean O’Neil each hit three-pointers in the final minutes for the Mustang win. “The difference was our intensity in the second half, especially since we came out flat in the first half,” Norwood head coach Rich Cormier said after the win. Dedham opened the game in an aggressive 3-2 half-court zone, which gave Norwood’s O’Neil and Tommy Munro a tough time. The Marauders continued the aggressive defensive play all through the half - mixing their zone …
