A limited number of tickets to the Jan. 20 AFC Championship Game at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough go on sale to the general public on Thursday, Jan. 17.
For the ninth time in 20 playoff appearances, the New England Patriots are just one game from advancing to the Super Bowl. That game will be played at Gillette Stadium on Sunday, Jan. 20 at 6:30 p.m. against the Baltimore Ravens. It is the second consecutive season the Patriots and Ravens will meet in the AFC Championship game at Gillette Stadium. Hosting playoff games in Foxborough used to be rarity for the New England Patriots and its fans prior to the Robert Kraft era. Gillette Stadium, with assistance from Tufts Health Plan, announced Monday that beginning with Saturday's New England Revolution game, the venue will become a fully smoke-free facility. All areas inside the stadium gates will be designated as non-smoking, a policy that will remain in place for all ticketed events moving forward, including NFL games, MLS and international soccer matches, UMass football games, concerts, functions and events. Since its opening in 2002, smoking had been allowed in designated areas at the periphery of the open-air stadium. The New York Giants travel to Gillette as the Patriots host the team that derailed their hopes of a perfect season in Super Bowl XLII.
Media day at Gillette had a different feel to. It could have been for a number of reasons including the loss to the Steelers on Sunday, the return of the New York Giants or the reported incident allegedly involving Julian Edelman. One way or another, the Patriots put aside the loss to Pittsburgh and did their best to deflect the media avalanche that has resulted since the alleged incident involving Edelman.
