Norwood's CertainTeed to Receive Workforce Training Fund Grant

On Thursday the Patrick-Murray Administration announced $6,846,496 in Workforce Training Fund grants to 87 Massachusetts companies, including over $115,000 to CertainTeed Corp. in Norwood.

Amazon.com Will Collect State Sales Tax in 2013

The Internet retailer said the collection would begin in time for next year's holiday shopping season.

Checking out at Amazon.com will be a little pricier starting next November. Gov. Deval Patrick's office announced the deal Tuesday, stating the company would be adding jobs to Massachusetts in the next few years. Amazon.com and Patrick said they would work together to support a federal bill allowing individual states to collect sales tax in states where they have no physical location. A member of the Patrick-Murray Administration stopped at Sam's Appliances and Furniture yesterday in Norwood, as part of National Small Business Week.

Final Members of Gaming Commission Appointed

The five-member committee is now complete and ready to move forward with business, the Governor said Tuesday.

The members round out the five member independent body which will be responsible for implementing and overseeing the expanded gaming industry in the Commonwealth.
