Coach's Brief: Norwood Boys Tennis Beats Dedham, 5-0

The Mustang boys tennis team took a big win over Dedham on Tuesday.

From Coach John Churchill Norwood 5, Dedham 0 1s: Owen Smith (12) 6-2, 6-2, Clark Macon (10) 2s: Liam Kelly (11) 4-6, 6-2, 6-3, Peter Swan (12) 3s: Michael Breen (11) 4-6, 6-1, 6-4, Nick Garcia (10) 1d: Walter Aspinwall (11) and Nathan Jones (9) 6-4, 6-3, David St. Cyr (11) and Brendan Flis (9) 2d: Ben Richwine (12) and Jason Najm (11) 7-6, 7-5, 6-1, Vinny Poncia (11) and Kameel Rachman (9) This was a very big win for us today. Dedham is not as strong this year due to the players they lost after last season, but this win also speaks to the progress we have made as a team. This match did not begin comfortably for us, but we were able to pull out wins in all of the matches. We made good use of vacation week by virtually all the guys …

Norwood Boys Basketball 12th Seed in Playoffs

The Division 2 South playoffs start next Tuesday.

Norwood boys' basketball scored the 12 seed for this year's MIAA Division 2 South playoffs, which begin next Tuesday, Feb. 28. The Mustangs will face the fifth-seeded Medfield in the first round. Here is the rest of the seeding and game information for the division: SEEDS: 1. Falmouth (18-2); 2. Randolph (18-2); 3. King Philip (17-3); 4. Stoughton (16-4); 5. Medfield (14-6); 6. Coach's Brief: Norwood Swim and Dive at Bay State Conference Meet

The team took fourth place overall in the conference battle.

From Coach Kim Goodwin We finished fourth at the Bay State Conference meet - the highest placing in several years that I know of or remember.     Senior Will Higgins was champion in the 50 yard free with a new personal best time and team record.   Others placing in individual events: Alexandra Metta, Evelyn Metta, Megan Clifford, Patricia Lee, Eddie Hernon, Jimmy Conley, Kristen Folan (diving) and Anthony Rodriguez.  All our 'A' relays placed in the top six. Our 'B' relays placed in top 12. Notable best times by others: Meaghan Shaughnessy, Meg Norton, Tessa Maguire and Natalie Looney!  Congrats to all. Just an amazing season!
