New owners rejuvenate a formerly troubled Norwood center ice cream parlor.
Six eighty-six Washington Street has housed ice cream shops famous for superior homemade ice cream since the 1990's, and now Norwood residents can sample its latest incarnation - The Sweeterie. The shop closed its doors last October, after being known for more than a decade, under two different owners, as The Ice Jack. Though locals reportedly packed the ice cream parlor most summer nights, the shop's second iteration, under the management of the Mendon-based RRR Treats, Inc., lasted under two years and was plagued by customer complaints of unsanitary conditions and frequent run-ins with the Norwood Health Department.
