Two local residents will be swimming the 22-mile Boston Harbor relay this coming Saturday to raise money for the fight against cancer.
Moira Herlihy and Jill McCusker of Norwood have joined Swim Across America to make a splash for pediatric cancer survivorship programs at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The 19th annual Boston Harbor 22-mile relay swim is Friday, July 13, and the 15th annual DCR Nantasket Beach one-mile and half-mile swim is Saturday, July 14. “The swims are a great way for people to come together and participate in a sport they love alongside Olympic swimming legends while raising critical funds for the David. Some of Norwood's best results from the James Joyce Ramble 10k held in Dedham on Sunday.
Two Norwood runners finished in the top 50 of the 29th Annual James Joyce Ramble in Dedham on Sunday. The 10k race attracted about 2,000 participants this year. Record finishes for the race stand at 28:45 and 32:54 for men and women respectively. Both records were set in 2001. Congressman Stephen F. Lynch recently announced that he has nominated Hunter Stowes, of Norwood, for appointment to the United States Merchant Marine Academy. Hunter is a senior at Xaverian Brothers High School. “Hunter was highly recommended by his teachers and coaches at Xaverian Brothers High School," Lynch said.
