Medfield Man Arrested by Norwood PD for B&E, Assault

Daniel J. Haney, 37, of Medfield, was arrested on charges of breaking and entering, assault and battery, assault with a dangerous weapon, threat to commit a crime, and armed robbery, on Feb. 20 with the help of Medfield Police.

Norwood police have charged a Medfield man with assault after he allegedly attacked a relative in their home. Daniel J. Haney, 37, of Medfield, was arrested on charges of breaking and entering in daytime, assault and battery, assault with a dangerous weapon, threat to commit a crime, and armed robbery, on Feb. 20 with the help of Medfield Police. The incident began the morning of Feb. 20 when Haney went to a family member's house accusing him of taking his property, Norwood Police spokesman Kevin Grasso said. "It is alleged that Haney grabbed the victim by the neck. Norwood Police Department Participates in DEA Initiative

Police will have a prescription collection time Saturday, April 30.

The Norwood Police Department is participating in the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration's Take Back initiative on Saturday, April 30, to help prevent the spread of prescription drug abuse, a release from the department said. That day from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. there will be a drop-off station at the department on Nahatan St. for people to drop off old, outdated, or unwanted medication and drugs. "It is hoped that this initiative will help to keep these medications from falling into the wrong hands," read a statement from Police spokesman Kevin Grasso and Detective Sergeant Robert Rinn of the Norwood Bureau of Criminal Investigation. UPDATED: Hangar Collapse at Norwood Airport

Six vehicles were inside the building, two people were removed safely.

A hangar collapse at Norwood Memorial Airport sent Norwood's police and fire departments to Access Rd. just before noon on Wednesday. The roof of the Swift Aviation hangar at 125 Access Rd. collapsed with five planes and one helicopter inside just after 10:30 a.m. Several of the aircraft were reportedly leaking fuel after the collapse, forcing firefighters to lay down a layer of class A foam. Airport Manager Russ Maguire said that more importantly, two parties were inside the building at the time of the collapse and removed safely by emergency personnel. Police had most of Access Rd. near the airport blocked off to all traffic. Heavy snow, rain and ice had been falling in Norwood for over 24 hours prior to the collapse, and extra sanders …

Thursday, Jan. 27: 8:33 a.m. - Police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Guild and Linden Streets and as a result arrested Joshua King of Northbridge, Mass. for two outstanding warrants and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license. 11:55 a.m. - The department received a call from a resident on Walnut Ave. of a water main break with water rushing down the street and sidewalk. Man Arrested by NPD Accused of Impersonating U.S. Marshal

The New Hampshire man arrested by U.S. Marshals in Norwood Wednesday allegedly used the fake badge to cash a false check and obtain government discounts.

The Dedham native arrested by U.S. Marshals on Wednesday with the help of Norwood police allegedly impersonated a U.S. Marshal and used that identification to defraud a woman he met on Craigslist as well as to obtain government discounts at a Norwood hotel, the Marshals' office said in a statement Friday. According to the affidavit by Supervisory Deputy Marshal Jeffrey Bohn of the United States Marshal Service, Eric Williams, 28, of Manchester, N.H., claimed to be a U.S. Marshal in an email he sent to a woman he met on Craigslist on Jan. 11. Williams reportedly stayed with the woman and her roommate in Beverly, Mass. for five days and stole a blank check from the woman's roommate. The affidavit states that Williams used a false USM badge …

Detectives found a cell phone inside the house belonging to Conlon and arrested him at home. 6:34 p.m. - Caller reported a hit and run at Washington St. and Ellis Ave. Police issued a BOLO for gold Toyota Camry with possible front-end damage. UPDATED: N.H. Man Chased by Police, Wanted on Warrants 'Erroneously Released' by Court

Dedham and Norwood police helped the U.S. Marshals apprehend the suspect twice in two days.

With the aid of Dedham and Norwood police, U.S. Marshals arrested a 28-year-old New Hampshire man wanted on several fraud-related warrants, according to the Marshals’ district office. Eric Williams was arrested Wednesday by Norwood Police at T.G.I. Friday’s and during a Dedham District Court appearance Thursday, he was “erroneously released,” said John Murray, assistant deputy chief of the U.S. Marshals Boston office. “He was free in Dedham, and we became aware of that and we sent resources there to take him into custody,” Murray said. Dedham Police were chasing him on Church Street for about 90 minutes early Thursday afternoon before U.S. Marshals apprehended him.
