Letter From Norwood Superintendent Following Conn. Shooting

Superintendent James Hayden issued a letter this weekend to all Norwood school parents following up on the tragic shooting in Newtown, Conn. on Friday.

After the tragic shooting that took place in Newtown, Conn. on Friday, Norwood Public Schools Superintendent James Hayden issued a letter to all parents regarding emergency plans and how to reassure students of their safety. "We are all shocked and dismayed by the terrible tragedy that happened in Newtown, Connecticut this Friday," Hayden wrote. "Our condolences, thoughts, and prayers go out to all those affected by this tragedy." "Senseless violence is so hard to understand and explain not only to ourselves but also our children," the letter continues. A special post office box has been established for those wishing to send condolences to Newtown, CT.

The following text was provided by the U.S. Postal Service. The U.S. Postal Service has established a unique Post Office Box to allow the public to send condolences to those affected by the tragedy in Newtown CT last week. Patriots President Jonathan Kraft told media Sunday The Kraft Group and his family will be donating $25,000 to those affected by the Newtown tragedy. On Sunday, the Patriots honored the 26 victims of the school shooting with a special moment of silence.

Candlelight Vigil to be Held Sunday for Victims of Newtown Shooting

Join the Norwood community Sunday at 8 p.m. on the Town Common for a candlelight vigil.

Norwood's Dawn Fitzgerald is putting together a candlelight vigil for Sunday, Dec. 16 at 8 p.m. on the Norwood Town Common for all the victims of the Connecticut Shootings. Fitzgerald said the vigil will be held rain or shine "for a brief prayer and moment of silence for the poor souls that lost their lives and loved ones in the Newtown, CT tragedy." People should bring their own candles for the event. Connecticut police said Friday afternoon, Dec. 14, that 26 people, including 20 children, were killed at an elementary school in Newtown, CT after a gunman opened fire.
