Congratulations NHS Class of 2013

Today the senior class of 2013 will walk across the stage and receive their high school diploma.

Norwood High School's Class of 2013 will graduate on today at 1 p.m. The outdoor ceremony will be on the stadium field and the indoor ceremony will be held in the gymnasium. The graduation ceremony will be broadcasted by NPA-TV on Norwood Light Broadband channel 22 and Verizon channel 34.

NHS Indoor Track Closes for the Summer

  Norwood High School announced on Friday that the indoor walking track will be closed for the summer starting on June 25. The track will re-open on September 4, 2013.

Norwood EYC Hosting Composting Today

Norwood Environmental Youth Coalition asking students and faculty to compost their leftovers at the dining hall today.

The Norwood High School is starting their effort to become a more green school on Thursday. NHS will now be putting food scraps and leftovers from the dining hall into compost heaps to reduce their waste and promote more recycling. The Norwood Environmental Youth Coalition is organizing the effort. Student and teachers are encouraged to wear as much green as they can to help support the E.Y.C. Prizes will be given to the most green students and faculty at school. Students and faculty are encouraged to compost their food scraps starting this year. The E.Y.C. was started in Norwood in 2004, and has been dedicated to making a more sustainable future for Norwood. Their mission includes raising awareness concerning global warming, recycling, …

Obituary: Richard G. Santospago

Mr. Richard G. Santospago was a former Norwood High football team captain.

  (From the Brookings-Smith Funeral Home)  Richard G. Santospago, 66, died peacefully with his family by his side, April 21, 2013, at a Bangor hospital. He was born September 14, 1946, in Natick, MA, the son of Peter and Shirley (Shepard) Santospago. Richard was the captain of his high school football and baseball teams. He served with honor in the United States Marine Corps from 1966 to 1969, rising to the rank of Sergeant. He is a Vietnam veteran and was awarded the following medals the Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Battle Stars, the Viet Nam Campaign Medal, and Presidential Unit Citation. He owned the floor sanding business, Norwood Floors for 25 years. Richard volunteered as and EMT for 10 years, coached baseball for 18 years…

Congressman Lynch Nominates John Campbell of Norwood for Appointment to the U.S. Air Force Academy

Congressman Stephen F. Lynch recently announced that he has nominated John Campbell for appointment to the United States Air Force Academy. John, the son of Paul and Amy Campbell, is a senior at Norwood High School.

UPDATE: Norwood Boys' Hockey Draws Walpole in First Round of MIAA D1 South Sectional at Gallo Arena

Mustangs earn seventh seed in state tournament with 13-5-2 record. Game will be played at Gallo Arena in Bourne at 7:30 p.m.

UPDATE (Feb. 28, 11:08 a.m.) - Walpole boys' hockey will face Norwood on Friday, March 1 at 7:30 p.m. at Gallo Arena in Bourne. The Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) announced Tuesday the pairings for the Division 1 South Sectional Boys' Hockey State Tournament and Norwood will open against Walpole in the first round. The Mustangs (13-5-2) enter the state tournament as the seventh seed in D1 South and will face off against a Rebels squad that skated to a 9-6-5 record this season, good for the tourney's 10th seed. The date, time and location of the Walpole-Norwood game has yet to be announced. The two squads played twice this season, tying 2-2 on Jan. 12 and Norwood winning 5-1 on Feb. 9. PHOTOS: Norwood High School Hosts the Winter Color Guard Competition

This is Norwood High School's first year hosting the competition.

On Friday, Feb. 2, Norwood High School hosted the 2013 Winter Color Guard Competition. There were 16 teams from around Massachusetts and the surrounding New England states. Judging is based on competition and achievement of the program, equipment vocabulary considering range and variety of skills demonstrated and movement vocabulary.
