Norwood Boys Ruin Senior Night for Walpole

The Mustangs ended a five game win streak for the Rebels.

The Norwood boys basketball team gave Walpole their first loss in nearly three weeks, 69-56, Tuesday on the road. For four Rebels it was a bittersweet night as the team honored their seniors Johnny Adams, Nathan Cameron, Steve Bean and Ronnie Shephard. The seniors were honored on the court with their loved ones before the game. Norwood proved to be too much to handle for Rebels who were outplayed on both ends of the court. Norwood's defense forced several missed shots and turnovers and Walpole found themselves down by as many as 16 points late in the third quarter. The Rebels, however, showed some resiliancy cutting the lead to 8 points with 1:51 to go in the fourth quarter. It wasn't enough as the Mustangs answered down the stretch to …

PHOTOS: Mustangs Trample Dedham in Thanksgiving Day Game

Norwood beat rival Dedham 41-6 Thursday morning in the annual Thanksgiving day match-up.

The first Thanksgiving day game at the new Norwood High School was a big win for the Mustangs, as they defeated the Dedham Marauders 41-6. Norwood finishes the season with a 3-8 overall record, while Dedham, who played an independent schedule ended 1-11.

Coach's Brief: Norwood Swim Takes Victory Over Dedham

The Mustangs improved to a 3-1 record with a win Tuesday.

From head coach Kim Goodwin Norwood Swim vs. Dedham Norwood 96, Dedham 74 Meet Summary: Norwood improved their record to 3-1 with yesterday's victory over Dedham, 96-74. Our goal for this meet was to put together our strongest relays. As a result, several relays qualified for sectional and state tournaments. Captains Eddie Hernon and Evelyn Metta went 1-2 in the long distance event, the 500 yard freestyle. Juniors Marguerite Lee and Tessa Maguire swam personal best times in their events. Others showed their versatility by swimming events that are not their specialties. Juniors Anthony Rodriguez, Nick Gaetani, Charlotte Rivard and Senior Captain Alex Metta all came away with wins. The Norwood High School Swim and Dive team split last week, beating Central Catholic, 97-84, but falling to league rival, Natick, 100-85.

From head coach Kim Goodwin Norwood Swim vs. Central Catholic, Natick Match Round Up: Norwood High School Swimming and Diving split this week, beating Central Catholic, 97-84, but falling to league rival, Natick, 100-85.  Captain Patricia Lee continues her dominance of her events, remaining undefeated this season. She is 5 for 5 in attempts at state qualifying times. Diver Kristen Folan has also qualified for states in all three of her attempts.  Fellow divers Brianna Whelan and MacKenzie Begley have scored huge points for the team and have also eclipsed their high totals from last year.      Although last night's [Friday] loss to Natick was disappointing there were several highlights as juniors Anthony Rodriguez, Tessa Maguire, Marguerite…

Coach's Brief: Norwood Cross Country Opens the Season

Both the boys and girls teams came up short against Walpole and Brookline yesterday.

From Athletic Director Brian McDonough Norwood Cross Country vs. Walpole, Brookline Meet Summary: The Norwood High Cross Country teams opened up against two of the strongest teams in the Bay State Conference today [Tuesday], Walpole and Brookline. Both the boys and girls teams came up short handed (boys 15-50 and 15-50)  (girls 15-50 to Brookline and 15-40 Walpole).  In the boys' race John Maloney was the first Norwood runner to cross the finish line with a time of 19:43, J.J. O'Donnell was right behind with a time of 19:47. Freshmen Josh Acero and Clifton Clark competed in their first varsity meet taking 3rd and 4th respectively. George Meltzer finished in the 5th spot for the Mustangs with a time of 21:23   The girls team had Norwood's …
