Norwood Public Schools Working to Launch New Website

The new site is expected to launch July 1.

Norwood Public Schools will be giving their district and school websites an overhaul this summer and they are currently seeking input from parents on what the new sites should feature. The survey, found here, asks what ways the new websites would be most helpful to them and their children. "We’re trying to integrate that into our design. So that parents, community members, students, family members and staff are able to find the information quickly and easily,” said Joe Kidd Director of Technology Services for the district. Kidd said they will be use a CMS (content management system) that will make it easier for faculty and staff to update the site more quickly. Norwood Public School Opening Delayed By Two Hours

Norwood will be opening up schools two hours later Monday.

  Norwood Public Schools will be opening up two hours late on Monday as clean-up of the Blizzard of 2013 is still going on.  The Norwood Montessori School will also will be opening up two hours later. Xaverian Bros. High School will be closed Monday.

February vacation is coming soon - what are your plans to battle cabin fever with the family?

February vacation for Norwood students will begin at the end of the school day Friday, Feb. 15 - and we want to know what your plans are for February vacation in Norwood. Some of you may be headed off to warmer climates, and in that case don't tell us. It'll only make the rest of us jealous. For those of you spending the week with your families in Norwood, tell us your best ideas for battling the winter cabin fever here in town. Will you hope for snow and hit the slope at Blue Hills? Will you spend time at the Morrill Library or the Norwood Recreation Department? Leave your answers in the comments section and watch for a list of the best local ideas before vacation begins!

Preliminary 2014 Budget for Norwood Public Schools

The preliminary Norwood Public Schools budget for the next fiscal year shows a 5.76 percent increase from this year.

The preliminary Norwood Public Schools budget for the next fiscal year, as posted on the district's website, shows an overall increase of 5.76 percent from the previous year - or $2,042,896. Read through the attached slideshow to see the first round outline.

No School in Norwood Monday

There will be no school in Norwood Monday.

Norwood Public Schools will be closed Monday because of the storm. Governor Deval Patrick asked schools to close because of Hurricane Sandy to help keep the roads clear of traffic during the storm.

Talent Show at the Cleveland School Come to watch the Cleveland School students perform singing, dancing, gymnastics, skits, and many other style shows in order to raise funds for the fifth grade end of year activities. Cleveland Students Let Loose at 3rd Annual MCAS Rally

Dancing and singing abounded at the rally Friday afternoon.

The sounds of laughter, cheers and music filled the Cleveland School cafetorium Friday afternoon as students, faculty and a few unexpected guests joined in for the third annual Cleveland School MCAS Rally. Third grade students from Jane Catalano’s class opened the rally to Katy Perry’s "Fireworks," displaying posters using the three-word-strategy reminding the room of important MCAS test taking skills. "I'm going to fall out of my seat," second grader Samantha Reen said while watching “Cleveland Rocks,” a video developed in secret by Cleveland teachers and school staff set to the song “Boom-de-Yada.” School Superintendent James Hayden and Assistant Superintendent Dr. Alex Wyeth also made appearances at the rally. SEPAC Meeting The Special Education Parent Advisory Council is holding a meeting Monday night. This is to teach parents how to help their children begin their transition into adulthood at the age of 14. The workshop will address self-advocacy and self-determination. It will also teach transition assessment and planning for all involved. You can join this meeting in Room 219 at the Savage Center at 6:45 p.m. The meeting will span two hours.
