Halloween Costume Swap Have yourself a green Halloween. Donate you gently worn Halloween costume to the Norwood Recreation Department on or before October 11. Come back and see if you can find a new costume for your child this Halloween season on Friday, October 12, from 4-7 p.m. Pumpkins & Scarecrows on the Common A fun-filled family festival on Norwood Common. Work with your family to design a scarecrow. Wood post supplied, you bring all the rest to make it your own. Prizes awarded to most unique. Cost is $10 per entry for pumpkin or scarecrow. Norwood Youth Hockey Weekly Wrap Up

A weekly summary and the team standings from Howard Z. Weinstein, Recreation Administrator.

The Norwood Recreation Department kicked off another exciting season of youth floor hockey.  With over 350 kids involved on 25 teams, the action will be very exciting. Among the games this week, we saw an exciting battle between the Cobras and the Colts which ended in a tie. Watch for these two teams to make some noise this season.

Upcoming Activities from Norwood Recreation

Check out these upcoming events and activities from Norwood Recreation.

Registration for new winter programs is underway. Classes begin the week of Dec. 5. Classes include preschool music, karate, Skyhawks sports, Intergalatic Investigators, Art Mania, Kids Cook and Fitness classes. Registration is available on a first come, first served basis. Decorate your home as the best and brighest in the neighborhood for the Holiday House Decorating Contest. Judging criteria includes orginality, arrangment, theme  and overall decoration. Open to Norwood residents only. Winner receives a gift certificiate to the OCC. Register before Dec. 15 and judging will take place on Thursday, Dec. 22. Start getting your child ready for preschool while they get dropped off at Preschool Prep and you can run a few local errands. Class …

Norwood Recreation's Halloween Events Schedule

The "spooktacular," pumpkin decorating and house decorating contest.

The Halloween Spooktacular  When: Saturday, Oct. 22, 3:30-6:30 p.m. Where: Civic Center gymnasium Games, arts and crafts, light refreshments, and live music. Volunteers from Students Against Destructive Decisions and Spirit clubs and will host a costume parade and spooky hallway walk that evening as well.   The Halloween Pumpkinfest When: Thursday, Oct. 27, 3:30-5:30 p.m. Where: Civic Center game room Parents and children can decorate pumpkins to take home. Open to all ages.   Spooky House Decorating Contest When: Friday, Oct. 28, 6-8 p.m. Where: All over town A committee of judges will determine which of the contestant houses is the best decorated. New June Programs Announced at Norwood Recreation

Check out the programs and classes coming right to the Civic.

June is right around the corner, and the Norwood Recreation Department is offering a number of new programs to local residents. Check out some of the following offerings and call the Recreation Department for further details: Beginning June 6, the Norwood Recreation Department has partnered with the Department of Conservation and Recreation's "Use Nature as Your Guide" program to offer a ParkPass that entitles the bearer to free parking for one vehicle to any Massachusetts State Park or State Beach. Come to the Norwood Recreation Department to reserve this pass one week in advance. Passes can only be reserved by Norwood residents or staff working full-time in Norwood. There is a $5 refundable deposit that will be returned once the pass is …
