Comedy Show to Feature Norwood Native

Saturday's show at the Norwood Theatre will feature Norwood's Dan Boulger, as well as Mike Gavin and the "godfather of Boston comedy" Don Gavin.

The Norwood Theatre will host the "Godfather of Boston Comedy" Don Gavin for one show this weekend. Performing with him will be Norwood native Dan Boulger and Mike Donovan, of South Boston. Gavin was one of the original founders of the famous Ding-Ho Comedy Club in Cambridge, as well as being the founder of Nick’s Comedy Stop and a pioneer at the Comedy Connection. Boulger attended Catholic Memorial for high school and went to Curry College which is where he began having an interest in stand up comedy. Since then he has appeared on Comedy Central’s Live at Gotham, The BBC, and the HBO Aspen Comedy Festival, and in 2008 he went on the CollegeHumor.com and Comedy Central Indecision college tours. The Magic of Lyn Comes to the Norwood Theatre

For one night only the Norwood Theatre will host one of the world's only female illusionists.

On Saturday the Norwood Theatre will host master illusionist Lyn Dillies for a show that Dillies herself describes as a family-oriented spectacle of the type you would travel to Las Vegas or Broadway to see. Dillies said she has been doing magic since the age of 12, when she would offer to perform for her neighbors and friends out of a cardboard box of tricks. Now she is one of the only female illusionists in the world and has performed in venues from New York’s Lincoln Center to Hollywood’s Magic Castle. And for one night only, Dillies will bring her illusions to Norwood. "It's a beautiful theatre and we're really excited about performing there," Dillies said. The Norwood Theatre has now been open for several months, and has hosted a variety of shows - what would you like to see come to town?

The Norwood Theatre reopened to the public last September, bringing the arts back to Norwood Center. So far the venue has hosted musical guests, family productions, variety shows and more. Marketing and Event Coordinator for the Theatre Erica McLaughlin said that there is always the possibility for popular acts to return for further shows, and that the theatre is always looking for what local patrons are interested in seeing.
