These three comedians are described as being "just like you, but much funnier."
The Norwood Theatre will host its first comedy show since the reopening this weekend as "The Regular Guys" take the stage Saturday night. Jimmy Dunn, P.J. Thibodeau and Tony V. are New England comedians and according to the Norwood Theatre website are, "Just like you, but much funnier." Dunn got his comedic start in Gloucester, Mass. and has performed in venues in New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Atlantic City and Boston. He's made TV appearances on Comedy Central, CMT and NESN and was the Boston Correspondent for "Jimmy Kimmel Live" during the historic 2004 Sox-Yankees series, according to his website. The singer and songwriter of educational children's tunes will be in town Saturday afternoon performing songs from his newly released album "Chocolalala."
This weekend the Norwood Theatre will host Northampton-based music educator and touring "kindie" artist Mister G, who will be playing songs from his newly released album "Chocolalala." Over the past few years, Mister G has been traveling and performing original, bilingual songs for children in Latin America and around the USA, according to a press release. "Chocolalala," is a bilingual collection of songs blending Latin rhythms, traditional instruments, and Mister G's song-writing for children. Mister G is Ben Gundersheimer, a singer, songwriter, and producer who spent 20 years as a rock frontman and solo artist before transitioning to making family music. A post in the Boston Daily blog on the Boston Magazine website highlights the renovation and reopening of Norwood's Theatre.
A post on Boston Magazine's "Boston Daily" blog by Matthew Reed Baker last week called the Norwood Theatre a "stellar new addition to its [the South Shore] arts community." The Theatre reopened Labor Day weekend after over two years of restoration work. A Dover resident Susan Lewis purchased the building from the Fiddlehead Theatre Company in January of 2010. The renovated Theatre seats 731 guests, and now has a license to serve beer and wine for adult theatre-goers. This past weekend the Ultrasonic Rock Orchestra was the first major show to grace the stage of the reopened Theatre, and the Boston Magazine blog notes that future shows will include comedy, children’s events, a cappella groups, and films for the whole family.
