UPDATE: Armed Robbery Reported in Norwood Center

Police are reportedly looking for a black male who robbed the Norwood News Convenient Store with a knife Thursday evening.

UPDATE: 9:51 a.m., Friday, Dec. 14 The following is a statement issued from the Norwood Police Department: Norwood Police responded to an armed robbery last evening around 7:15 at the Norwood News Convenient Store located at 683 Washington St. Officer Paul Zorzi spoke with an employee and learned that the suspect described as a black male, mid-thirties, wearing a black sweatshirt and black pants entered the store placed some merchandise on the counter as though to purchase. Once the employee opened the cash draw the suspect lunged at him with a knife forcing the employee to jump back to escape injury. The suspect then removed cash then fled out the store. He was last seen running behind the building out to Day Street. The suspect got away …

Norwood Police Log: Feb. 28-29

Highlights from the daily police logs.

Tuesday, Feb. 28 7:24 a.m. - Store manager at Shaw's on Nahatan St. reported a smell of gas in the oven area. NFD responded and reported gas leak on roof, waited for gas company to arrive. 12:03 p.m. - Caller reported smoke in the area of Lenox and Plympton streets. NFD responded, no fire in the area. 4:20 p.m. - Resident reported a suspicious red truck in the area of the Prescott School. Officer spoke to the complainant. 6:44 p.m. - Officers stopped a vehicle at Washington St. and Atwood Ave. and as a result noted a drug law violation. No arrest was made, police filed a report. Wednesday, Feb. 29 12:37 a.m. - Caller on Buckminster Dr. reported fire alarm. Police and fire responded, NFD handled incident.
