Letter to the Editor: Norwood Day Thank You!

A thank you from Norwood Department of Recreation Superintendent Gerald Miller.

Norwood Day 2011 is now part of our town’s history; a great day with many laughs, memories and re-introductions of friends, neighbors and classmates. We kicked off Norwood Day weekend with glorious fireworks, sponsored again by T.G.I. Friday’s. The Town of Norwood and its residents completely enjoyed their gift. They were spectacular! It seems that, every year, Norwood Day continues to grow in both attendance and a greater variety of activities for its residents. This year we reached an estimated 16,000 people and provided a new Interactive Van - Games 2 Go. There are a few things certain in life: death, taxes and the Five Things.

1. It's that time again - tax forms and information are available at the Morrill Memorial Library on the first floor for Norwood residents. If you have any questions contact the Reference Department at (781) 769-0200 x110. 2. The Board of Selectmen will meet tonight at 7:00 p.m. in the town hall. The meeting will also be available live on NPA-TV. 3. Tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. at the Recreation Department there will be a performance by the Toe Jam Puppet Band, music for kids and parents too! Cost is $4 per person. 4. While reading the dictionary is one effective way to improve your vocabulary, the Morrill Memorial Library provides Norwood with another, more social option - Scrabble night. Norwood's getting into the holiday spirit - and so is Norwood Patch!

1. The special town meeting that was postponed from Monday will take place tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Coakley Middle School. There are quite a few articles on the agenda including a much debated budget increase for the Norwood Fire Department. 2. The Norwood High School Celtic Strings played at the Walpole Barnes and Noble last night - entertaining the crowd in the cafe with holiday favorites and some of their own classics. 1. The town meeting postponement was certainly worth it for Patriots fans, as New England defeated the New York Jets last night by a final score of 45-3. The meeting will now be held at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday at Coakley Middle School. 2. The Mustang basketball and ice hockey teams have full scrimmage schedules this week as they prepare to kick off the winter sports season. Be sure to follow Patch for your Norwood sports coverage. 3.
