Richard Peter Smith, 73, died in the Norwood Hospital in Norwood, Massachusetts on Sunday, Feb. 17. Born in Norwood on Dec. 28, 1939, he was the son of the late John V. and Mary (Preibus) Smith. He graduated from Norwood High School with the class of 1957 and went on to attend Northeastern University. He has been a resident of Walpole, Massachusetts since 1963 moving from Norwood. He worked for Norwood Engineering as a land surveyor for 50 years. Mr. Smith was a member of the Norwood Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (BPOE) in Norwood and was an usher at the Blessed Sacrament Church in Walpole. He was an avid Boston sports fan.
