With the lastest forecast, the National Weather Service has issued a blizzard watch for most of eastern Massachusetts including Norwood, calling it a "potential historic winter storm". There's no doubt much of the state saw blizzard-like conditions throughout the day Friday, prompting several cancellations and leading Gov. Deval Patrick to ban vehicles from the roadways as of 4 p.m. Friday afternoon. So when will the storm end? White-out conditions are expected to continue into the early morning hours on Saturday, according to the WHDH forecast. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch.
The National Weather Service office in Taunton has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Norwood and most of Massachusetts Thursday night through Saturday morning. Accumulation of six or more inches of snow is possible for Norwood. The snow is predicted to begin after 2 a.m. Friday, with rain and snow continuing throughout the day and into Saturday. The National Weather Service is predicting low temperatures in the single digits.
A snowy start to the week could herald more wintery conditions for Norwood, according to the National Weather Service. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect through 7 a.m. Tuesday, with a chance of snow predicted through 10 a.m. Slick roadways and poor visibility are possible, as well as blowing and drifting of snow due to the wind and the light nature of the precipitation. The Tuesday morning rush hour is expected to be impacted across New England. Tuesday night through Thursday are predicted to be clear, but with temperatures between 1 and 18 degrees. The National Weather Service says the morning commute should be affected.
Winter's timeout will end Wednesday morning. The National Weather Service in Taunton today said 2 to 4 inches of snow are expected in Southeastern Mass. The agency has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for Wednesday in the area. The January thaw is over. Temperatures in the 40s and 50s, approaching 60 some days, were recorded for much of the past week. The snow should slow the Wednesday morning commute, the weather service said.
