Foxborough Police took a proactive approach in crowd control during last weekend’s New England Country Music Festival at Gillette Stadium, resulting in over 100 arrests in two days. Do you agree with the strategy?

Some have criticized Foxborough Police for being “overzealous” during events at Gillette Stadium but that doesn’t concern Foxborough Police Chief Edward O’Leary. Foxborough Police Arrest Over 100 at Country Fest Over the Weekend

Police reported over 500 incidents at this past weekend’s New England Country Music Festival at Gillette Stadium.

Foxborough’s ninth annual New England Country Music Festival headlining Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw at Gillette Stadium brought over 100,000 people to the area this past weekend, which resulted in 500 police incidents. According to Foxborough Police reports, there were 101 criminal arrests made during the two-day concert festival and close to an additional 500 concertgoers were taken into protective custody, which is separate from an arrest. Foxborough Police Chief Edward O’Leary said the majority of the arrests involved underage drinking. He added that there were some “traffic issues” during Friday’s show, which brought a crowd of 49,400 to Foxborough and yielded 61 arrests. Foxborough is expected to see over 100,000 country fans at Gillette Stadium this weekend as Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw wrap up their 2012 “Brothers of the Sun” Tour. Even if you're not headed to the show, here's what you need to know about the weekend.

The New England Country Music Festival at Gillette Stadium has become an annual event in Foxborough since its inception in 2004. The show, referred to by many concertgoers as “Country Fest,” features some of the industry’s biggest stars on one stage and this weekend will be no different as Kenny Chesney returns to Foxborough for the seventh time as the festival’s headliner and he’s bringing some all-star friends with him.
