TELL US: Would You Report Suspicious Activity in Your Neighborhood?

Part of the Norwood Police Department's strategy to combat illegal drug use in town is using information from citizens - would you call the police if you saw something odd?

Last month the Norwood Police Department released their stratgy for combating the distribution and abuse of Heroin and prescription painkillers in town. Part of that strategy - a 13-page document outlining many different programs and tactics - is communicating with the community. The NPD offers a confidential tip line at 781-440-5181. You can also report information by email at reportatip@norwoodma.gov. Norwood Man Charged with Dealing Marijuana, Destruction of Property in Police Station

A 23-year-old male was arrested for allegedly dealing Marijuana to two girls in South Norwood, and was subsequently charged for destroying a sprinkler head in an NPD holding cell.

Norwood Police arrested a 23-year-old Norwood man on Tuesday for allegedly dealing Marijuana. Henry S. Samuels, of 15 Sturtevant Avenue, was initially charged with a subsequent count of distribution of a class D substance. A Norwood Police statement said that an additional charge, destruction of property over $250, was added when Samuels destroyed a sprinkler head in the holding cell of the Norwood Police department causing flooding. According to the police statement, on Tuesday afternoon Officer David Eysie, who was assigned to plainclothes for the purpose of narcotic investigations, observed two young females walking on Sturtevant Ave. "The two walked to 15 Sturtevant Ave. and were seen meeting with a black male wearing a white T-shirt…

Three Arrested in Norwood for Trafficking in Opiates

Police confiscated several hundred pills with a street value of over $9,000 in the arrest of three male suspects Monday afternoon.

Norwood Police arrested three males for allegedly trafficking in prescription narcotics on Monday afternoon, and confiscated several hundred pills with a street value of over $9,000, according to a police statement issued Tuesday afternoon. Humberto Valdez Torres, 43, of Miami, FL; Giovanni N. Ibanez, 27, of Dedham; and Chris Hubler, 57, also of Miami, FL, were all arrested and charged with trafficking in opiates after police observed them engaged in suspicious activity in the parking lot of the Rama Shopping Center on Washington St. According to the Police statement, Officers David Eysie and Mario Costa were working in plainclothes with the department's anti-crime unit, assigned to investigate the sale of drugs in areas known for high …

Police arrested three Norwood males in South Norwood after observing "activity consistent with the sale of drugs."

Police arrested three Norwood residents on charges of conspiracy to violate drug law Friday afternoon, the NPD spokesman said Monday. According to police logs, Detective Sergeant Robert Rinn requested marked units to Alandale Parkway, off Washington St. in South Norwood, on Friday at 12:25 p.m. The area had been under surveillance by Norwood Police and other members of the Norfolk County Police Anti-Crime (NORPAC) Detectives Unit, police spokesman Kevin Grasso said.
