Norwood Businesses to Donate Portion of Sales to Marathon Victims

So far seven business are participating in donating a portion of their Saturday sales to benefit the victims of the Boston Marathon bombing.

  The initiative to donate a portion of sales to the Boston Marathon victims started with a talk between Norwood Center's Kim Weineck and owner of Norwood Theater, Susan Lewis. The Norwood Theater was already planning to donate all proceeds to benefit a family that is affected by the bombing.  Then she suggested to Weineck to ask restaurants if they would like to participate in helping the victims.  There are now seven businesses participating. "A few charities to consider if making a donation directly: Meetinghouse Bank, Dorchester, MA has set up the Martin Richard Family Fund. Onefundboston.org is a non-profit established expressly to assist those affected by yesterday's bombing. Of course, the Red Cross is always an option, too," …

Get Your Photo with the Patch Pup at the Norwood Farmer's Market

Yes, we said it: The Patch Pup will be at the Farmer's Market Tuesday at noon.

Come get your photo taken with the Patch Pup this Tuesday at the Norwood Farmer's Market on the Town Common! Norwood Patch will be at the Market's Merchant Table from noon to 6 p.m. The Pup will be available for photos at the table from noon to about 1 p.m. Vendors at the Market include Ward’s Farm, Web of Life Organic, Silverbrook Farm, Oliodimelli, Fresh Catch Inc., Foxboro Cheese Company, John Crow Farm, Hearth Wood Fired Bread and Langwater Farm. Local residents can stop by and shop for certified organic produce, fresh fire-baked breads, cheese, eggs, meat, fish, olive oils and wines. The new Norwood Farmer's Market kicked off Tuesday afternoon on the Town Common with local vendors and entertainment.

The 2012 Norwood Farmer's Market kicked off the season Tuesday afternoon on the Town Common. The market began 17 years ago and was originally located on the common before moving to the parking lot behind Babel's. This year the market will be held every Tuesday from noon to 6 p.m., rain or shine.
