CarMax will join the dealerships occupying Norwood's "Automile."
Used car superstore CarMax will be building a new location in Norwood, according to the Boston Herald. The demolition has already begun at the site, the Herald report states, which is 135,000 square feet previously belonging to Home Quarters Warehouse. A CarMax spokesperson told the Herald it could take between two and three years and is expected to create between 100 and 125 jobs when opened. In December of last year CarMax opened its first Massachusetts dealership in North Attleboro, and began discussing a Norwood location on the "Automile." The business has been before the Norwood Board of Selectmen several times for the proper licenses involved in building on the 10 acres of space that will include a service center, showroom and lot …

What would you like to see in the empty building on Kerry Pl. and Boston-Providence Highway next to the new Monkey Sports?
Drive around Norwood and you'll notice far too many empty storefronts and buildings. This week, we're continuing our "Visions for Vacancies" series where we showcase an empty storefront in town and ask you what should take up the space. So today we ask you, what should go in at the large empty building at 921 Boston-Providence Highway and Kerry Place? The large space is available for lease, and is next to Monkey Sports - a fairly recent addition to Norwood specializing in baseball, hockey and lacrosse. What do you think should go in the location? Another sporting warehouse? A department store? Wegmans? Tell us in comments!

Norwood resident Jonathan Hall says family and friends are working there while he works behind-the-scenes to make the shop 'more of a neighborhood market.'
Tuesday, Norwood resident Jonathan Hall visited "my own little market" for the first time in nearly a month. Injuries from a two-vehicle, rollover crash on Interstate 95 in Sharon on Sept. 27 has limited Hall lately to behind-the-scenes work Sharon Express, which he has owned since early September. "Everything's kind of a little strange right now, everything that I go back to for the first time," Hall said Tuesday. "I got home two days ago; that was a little weird. Now, here for the first time, it's a little strange. "Family and friends have just stepped up and kept it going, and made some of the changes I started to put into place." Hall plans to transform the Post Office Square market into "more of a neighborhood market" offering …

This is a much better location for a Hockey Rink, but of course, that would cost the town money. How does it feel Norwood to have been used by Mr. Rogers to win re-election; you actually think that the State is going to give Norwood $5.6 million to build a hockey rink? Dream On; MDC (or DCR as it is now known) is privatizing all rinks, so why on earth would they build one owned by the state, …   more ›
