Board Approves Removal of Four Trees from Town Common At their meeting Tuesday evening, the Norwood Board of Selectmen unanimously approved a motion from department of public works director Mark Ryan to remove four trees from the Town Common. Town Manager John Carroll said that Ryan had discussed the situation with an arborist, and feels that it would be best for the state of the Town Common to have them removed. In their current state, the trees will grow into each other - causing damage to the trees themselves as well as the lawn below. "I agree with Mr. Ryan, they really are causing problems," Carroll told the board. "As nice as the Common is and as much as we like the greenery if you look close you have to admit it's overgrown," …

On Oct. 1 Norwood Public Access will add a full-time government channel to their listings.
On Oct. 1, Norwood's Public Access Television (NPA-TV) will be launching a full-time Government Access Channel. "NPA-TV is expanding its government coverage and this increase has created the need to consolidate the broadcast of government meetings onto one channel," a press release from NPA-TV Government Access Coordinator Amy Tobey said. Town Selectmen meetings and School Committee currently are broadcast on the Town and School channels respectively, both live and recorded after the fact. Community Announcements will continue to be posted on the School and Town Channels. "NPA-TV is proud of its current government coverage," Tobey's statement said. Will we also limit where CVS, Walgreens and other drug stores are located. Its typical bullying tactics like this that make Norwood so transparent. You cannot legislate morality, no matter how hard you try. Zoning ordinances specifically used as anti-business and to corral industries is illegal, immoral and akin to gerrymandering, which I know MA and Norwood has no problem with.   more ›
