Last year at this time Norwood faced an October snow storm that, while unusual, caused little damage other than brief power outages around town. Now, as Hurricane Sandy moves toward the southern shore of New England, local residents should rememer that call volume to emergency workers skyrockets during major storms. However, many of the calls are non-emergency calls that could be better handled by another agency. Press release from Norwood Light Broadband In April, Norwood Light Broadband (NLB) customers began receiving a brochure with their monthly cable bills. The brochure contained three coupons which could be redeemed for a free Video on Demand movie, a discount on food at Jake n Joe’s Sports Grille and a discount at the Dean Street Car Wash. Norwood Light Broadband (NLB) is partnering with the Ecumenical Food Pantry to raise funds to help Norwood residents in need this holiday season. “We are thrilled to partner with Norwood Light Broadband to raise the funds that enable us to help Norwood residents get through these difficult times,” said Nick Campagna, President of the Food Pantry. NLB will donate $50 to the Food Pantry for every customer who switches their Cable TV, Internet and/or Telephone service from Comcast or Verizon to the Town’s Broadband network in November or December. Breathing a little easier thanks to Norwood Light, fire and police.
“It’s a Norwood thing.” I’ll admit I was not quite as prepared for the arrival of Irene as I thought. Yes I made a quick trip to the grocery store Friday afternoon to pick up a few necessities. I made sure Joey’s pitch-back, his bicycle and scooter were safely put in the cellar Saturday morning and the soccer balls and wiffle ball bats that took up residence on our back deck all summer were placed back in their respective bins in the back hall so as to not become an airborne arsenal - potentially breaking an innocent neighbor's window. Patio chairs were folded and tucked away and the hanging plants on our front porch were placed in the back corner, safely on the ground.
