Norwood Police will Participate in a Virtual Ride-Along on Twitter

Norwood Police will connect via Twitter to participate in a virtual ride-along to bring attention the use of social media by law enforcement. Citizens will ride alongside as a patrol officer takes them out on the road during the course.

Editor's Note: The following information was contributed by the Norwood Police Department.   On Friday March 22, starting at 4 p.m., the Norwood Police Department, alongside law enforcement agencies around the world, will connect via Twitter to participate in a 24-hour virtual ride-along to bring attention to the use of social media by law enforcement. Citizens will ride alongside as a patrol officer takes them out on the road during the course of a shift via the popular social media platform Twitter.  The officer will provide real time updates as to what is happening throughout the evening to give citizens a feel for the daily interactions a patrol officer encounters in their community.  The officer will also answer questions that Twitter…

Norwood Police Arrest Man for Possession of 6 Pounds of Marijuana

Norwood and State Police placed 24-year-old Romeo W. McCubbin under arrest for marijuana possession and possession of ammunition without a Firearm Identification Card.

  On Tuesday Norwood Police arrested Romeo W. McCubbin, 24, for the possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute and possession of ammunition without a Firearm Identification Card (FID). On Monday the USPS delivered a package to a residence in Norwood.  But it was later discovered that the recipient did not live at the resdidence and the package was returned. Postal Investigators then indicated that the package contained marijuana. "A male subject called the Post Office inquiring on the package indicating that he would pick it up," police said. "The USPS Inspector alerted the Massachusetts State Police Detective’s assigned out of the Narcotics Unit of the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office. Norwood and State Police …

Norwood Police Log: Person Offered to Clean Snow Off Neighbor's Car for Money or Prescription Drugs

Thursday- Feb. 7, 2013 11:43 p.m.- Caller on Roosevelt Ave. reported identity theft. Report filed. 11:49 p.m.- Motor vehicle accident. A woman hit a parked motor vehicle and a building. 12:46 p.m.- NPD arrested Adam Z. Lavallee, 25, of Norwood on an outstanding warrant. 3:28 p.m.- Caller reported an auto theft. The owner had lent the motor vehicle to a friends who has not returned it. The friend was arrested in Boston and the motor vehicle was towed at that time. Two Arrested Walking the Railroad Tracks With Burglarious Tools

Norwood Police Anti-Crime arrested two men Sunday night who allegedly intended to break into a local building.

The following is from a release from the Norwood Police Department: On Sunday, Feb. 3 at approximately 11 p.m. Officer Wennerstrand, assigned to Anti-Crime Patrol, was in the area of Rama Plaza when he observed a vehicle park near the Seven Eleven. Two men exited the vehicle, but instead of entering any of the businesses still open, they walked westward down an alley behind a building which housed a pre-school and medical offices. Officer Wennerstrand who assigned to plainclothes in an unmarked car, called for back up. Officer Kullich who was in uniform responded. Together, they entered the alley to investigate. Wednesday, Jan. 30 11:33 a.m. - Homeowner on Wheelock Avenue arrived home to second floor window open, she believed items have been moved around house. Victim of break-in last week, broken window blew open. Officers checked the home interior, everything appears in order. 2:26 p.m. - Multiple calls received for a motor vehicle accident at Boston-Providence Highway and Dean Street. Norwood Residents Arrested on Drug Charges in Walpole Weeks After Previous Charges Dropped

Brothers Dejan and Peter Katic were arrested in Walpole last Thursday, less than two weeks after similar charges brought by Norwood Police were dismissed due to the mishandling of drug samples by state Department of Public Health chemist Annie Dookhan.

On Thursday, Jan. 24, Walpole Police arrested 27-year-old Dejan Katic and 24-year-old Peter Katic, along with 27-year-old Derek Boutilier, also of Norwood, after a surveillance unit witnessed a hand-to-hand drug transaction. According to a Norwood Police press release, a Walpole Police detective saw Dejan Katic sell heroin to Boutilier at Katic’s place of business. Norwood Police Nab Two For Housebreak on Fulton Street

An increase in anti-crime patrols in the area led to the arrests of two Dedham men on Friday.

The following is a release from the Norwood Police Department: On Friday, Jan. 25, officers of the Norwood Police Department arrested two Dedham men and charged them with breaking into a house on Fulton Street. Here’s how they did it: Due to an uptick in housebreaks over the past few months, the NPD increased its deployment of anti-crime units. Anti-crime is a plainclothes patrol and surveillance unit where officers target areas of town where crimes have recently occurred. Officer Lopes was on anti-crime duty in plainclothes and in a nondescript vehicle when he spotted a man sitting in a blue Saturn in front of a house on Fulton Street.
