The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch.
The National Weather Service office in Taunton has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Norwood and most of Massachusetts Thursday night through Saturday morning. Accumulation of six or more inches of snow is possible for Norwood. The snow is predicted to begin after 2 a.m. Friday, with rain and snow continuing throughout the day and into Saturday. Norwood Patch will keep you updated on any storm related hazards or cancellations.

The National Weather Service says the morning commute should be affected.
Winter's timeout will end Wednesday morning. The National Weather Service in Taunton today said 2 to 4 inches of snow are expected in Southeastern Mass. The agency has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for Wednesday in the area. The January thaw is over. Temperatures in the 40s and 50s, approaching 60 some days, were recorded for much of the past week. The snow should slow the Wednesday morning commute, the weather service said. Strong coastal storm may affect region between Monday and Wednesday.
For those of you dreaming of a white Christmas, this forecast is what you've been waiting for. According to the National Weather Service, there is a chance for accumulating snow next week as a coastal storm develops between Monday and Wednesday. An active weather pattern is expected to begin Sunday and continue through the middle of next week. There's a possibility of snow and/or ice, with significant amounts if temperatures remain cold enough. The NWS is currently predicting a 50 percent chance of rain and snow Monday night and Tuesday. Timing of the storm is still uncertain, as is the type of precipitation and any potential hazards. Norwood Patch will keep you updated on any weather-related hazards in town.

Mother Nature has sent snow early this year! On the heels of Hurricane Sandy, some have dubbed this one Son of Sandy. The nor'easter came through Norwood late afternoon and continued throughout the evening. Snow stopped falling before midnight. The NWS is predicting possible snow showers for Norwood late Friday night into Saturday.
Last Tuesday marked the official start of spring, and with temperatures reaching into the 80's through the week, many in Norwood were struck with spring - maybe even summer - fever. However, according to the National Weather Service, it may not be time to pull out the shorts and sundresses just yet. The NWS is predicting possible snow for Norwood Friday night into Saturday, with temperatures in the mid to low 30's. As of Friday afternoon there was a 40 percent chance of snow, mostly after 1 a.m. Saturday, turning to cold rain after 1 p.m. Little to no snow accumulation is expected, and temperatures are predicted to bounce back into the 50's for the start of next week. On Wednesday night Norwood got the most snow the town has seen since October, in a winter that has been atypical to say the least. And even that wasn't much. The snow is predicted to continue throughout the day Thursday and into Friday, according to the National Weather Service. Little accumulation is expected, however, with the precipitation changing over to rain Friday night and Saturday. The NWS has issued a winter weather advisory that will remain in effect until 6 p.m. Thursday. So enjoy it while it lasts! The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for Wednesday evening into Thursday morning.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for Norfolk County, including Norwood, starting Wednesday afternoon. The storm watch is for snow, sleet, and freezing rain - with the possibility of 3-5 inches of accumulation between Wednesday and Thursday. "Snow is currently expected to overspread southern New England Wednesday afternoon and transition to a wintry mix Wednesday evening," reads the statement on the NWS website. "The heaviest precipitation should occur from late Wednesday into Thursday morning." The NWS also cautions drivers that the storm could cause slippery conditions and low visibility for the Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commutes. Norwood is predicted to get between two and five inches of snow.
According to the National Weather Service Office in Taunton, Norwood could get between three and five inches of snow in the next 24 hours. The snow is predicted to start after 4:00 a.m. Saturday and continue throughout the day, until about 10:00 p.m. The NWS has issued a winter weather advisory for that time period, and is advising motorists to use caution on snow or ice covered roadways.
