Super post by Sinclair. Yes, indeed early on, in my dad's coaching career at OA, Clem Spillane and his superb Wareham teams had the measure of OA. Wareham beat OA in the the '56 Class C Tech Tourney finals at Boston Garden, and also beat OA in the South Shore Tournament Class A finals one year. But OA turned the favor on Wareham later on in a series of games, including a South Shore Class A championship game, and a big win over Wareham in the "new gym" in the new high school at the end of Columbus Avenue. Funny story, in that Class A South Shore final in which Wareham beat OA, OA actually went up like 18-0 to start the game, and as Connie and Clemmie's cousin, Leo Kent, told me, with OA up by that big margin (and I believe the game was played at Bridgwater State College), Connie stood up in the stands and bellowed, "Clemmie, the bets are all in, now let the horses loose." And, indeed, Wareham commenced a comeback and would eventually win the game.
